Letter to Me

Dear sweet Audi,

Take a breath… I can see you were hard on yourself this week.

You battled this week. You battled to show up as a wife, mom and friend. You were worn and that’s OK. That’s a part of being human.

Fresh starts are forever possible.

You feel like a hypocrite for struggling through your week after claiming your “reliant” anthem for the year… You feel like you did it all in your own strength this week. You feel like the struggle means somehow you’ve failed. But that couldn’t be any further from the truth sweet girl. You’ve put your heart out there and declared your need.

And we are ALL in need.

It’s a beautiful thing… if you stop and think about it… that God allowed you to see some of the spaces He wants you to invite Him into.

That’s a gift.

It was a difficult week with relationships. You felt at odds with some, let down with others and still you felt that hard to evade lonely feeling. But you are a treasure and a tender friend. You love wholly and deeply. Don’t confuse your fear of disconnection with thinking you aren’t good at relationships. That’s not truth. Press into the scary, difficult feelings and let God meet you there.

Just keep holding out your empty, open hands. We never know what kind of gift He might place in them.

Will you let me remind you where you were brave and beautiful this week?

You shared your story in a vulnerable and public way. Hold that step of growth close to your heart. Be proud of yourself and let yourself be encouraged by it, no matter how small you want to make it.

You made important strides in setting boundaries. You practiced shouldering what is healthy and yours to bear and not taking on other’s “stuff”. That’s huge.

You loved your kids fiercely. You made space for their emotions and tended to their needs with grace.

You are being honest about areas of growth in your marriage. You have a wild and beautiful love with your husband and that comes through in your intentionality and protectiveness. You guys have something dazzling together. Your honesty will only cultivate it’s beauty.

Audi, you are doing it… You are opening your hands and heart to authenticity, connection and healing. You are braving the real and difficult in life. You are stronger than you know and more courageous than you give yourself credit for.

Today… let yourself rest in the truth.

Always, always tenderly FOR you,
